Primarily an oil town, it has a port and a tank farm.
La Salina is a district of Cabimas, and the main
PDVSA building is there.
This is where I work.

The main SCADA machines are here,
and also the offices for Automation (SCADA). Also near by is El Menito and Ule,
which are also important in the scheme of things.

I stayed in Cabimas for 3 months in 2000, at the but then moved to the
Maruma hotel in Maracaibo
- mostly because the only thing in Cabimas is a McDonalds which was lowering my
CI coefficient way too much.
But after living in the Maruma Hotel for 6 months, I moved into an
apartment.

One of the things that struck me the most was just how pervasive the oil industry is in
this town. Also, just how blaze people sem to be about it.
I cant help but think about safety when I see nodding donkey pumps and flares to close to
residential areas.
